How to Sow Lady Finger Seeds

Choose a pot or grow bag with good drainage and fill it with fertile, loose and well-draining soil mixed with organic compost.
Sow the seeds approximately 2-3 cm deep and cover them lightly with soil. Water gently after sowing and keep the soil consistently moist until germination. Lady Finger seeds are best sown directly in their final container or growing space.

Germination

Lady Finger seeds generally germinate within 5-10 days under suitable conditions.

For better germination:

• Keep the soil moist but avoid overwatering.

• Provide warm growing conditions.

• Place the container in a location receiving good sunlight.

• Make sure excess water can drain properly.

Growing & Care

☀️ Sunlight

Lady Finger plants need around 6-8 hours of direct sunlight every day for healthy growth and good pod production.

💧Watering

Water when the top layer of soil begins to feel slightly dry. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the early growth stage, but avoid waterlogging.

🌱 Soil

Use fertile, nutrient-rich and well-draining soil. Mixing the soil with organic compost or well-rotted manure can support healthy plant growth.

🪴Spacing

If growing multiple plants, provide enough space between them for proper sunlight and air circulation.

When to Harvest?

Lady Finger is best harvested when the pods are young, tender and soft. Regular harvesting can encourage the plant to produce more pods.

Check the plant regularly once pods start appearing and harvest them before they become too mature, tough or fibrous.

Growing Tips

• Provide 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.

• Use a container with proper drainage.

• Avoid excessive watering and waterlogging.

• Keep the growing area free from weeds.

• Add organic compost periodically for healthy growth.

• Harvest tender pods regularly for better production.
